My Major Love for the Beatles

If someone were to tell me that I would score better than 68% of people taking a quiz on the Beatles, I'd would probably tell you that's not a surprise. I have always gravitated towards the iconic band's sounds (as there is definitely more than one), knowing that the demographic I share my love with would most likely be middle aged dads along with my grandparents.  Seeing that the band will truly go down in history for many years, there are some more mainstream songs like "Hey, Jude" and "Yellow Submarine" that will always get clout. But when you get to lesser known material, Gen Z as a whole seems to fall off knowledge-wise. I think it's funny the pride that older generations have around knowing the Beatles so well. Sure, I would've killed to brag about seeing them live, or discovering them while they were singing one of their first hit singles "I Wanna Hold Your Hand", but I can't blame some of my peers for not having the same obsession, as new music is born into the world each and every day. I think it depends how you grew up. Having a family oriented in music, I was exposed to a vast amount of genres, and was able to cling to the ones I like. But, if your not surrounded by music-centered people, the mere exposure beyond songs like "Here Comes the Sun" would be difficult to attain as only current songs play on the radio and are exposed through social media.

This is not to say that everyone will like the Beatles who listens. As people find what they like, they tend to stick with it (why wouldn't you?). This poll helped me draw the conclusion that the 68% of people doing the quiz that didn't know the vast majority of the lyrics might just perceive The Beatles as old music rather than a cultural phenomenon that changed the life of many over half a century ago.
